Ross Pierschbacher, a native of Chariton, verbally committed to play football at the University of Iowa. Pierschbacher, 6'5" 280 pound offensive tackle, is a junior at Cedar Falls High School and is a starter for the Cedar Falls Tigers. He is the son of Brad Pierschbacher and the grandson of Hubert and Mary Lou Pierschbacher of Chariton. Brad grew up in Chariton and is a 1983 graduate of Chariton High School.
Ross was born in Chariton in 1995 and he lived here for four years until 1999 when Brad agreed to take a teaching position in Cedar Falls. Ross was born at the Lucas County Health Center and was delivered by Dr. Doug Hoch.
Ross has been a starter on the varsity team his freshman, sophomore and junior years. The last two years the Tigers have reached the state semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs. Ross was named to First Team All-District in 2011 and 2012. The Des Moines Register and the Iowa Newspaper Association also named him to First Team All-State in 2011 and 2012 as well. According to Ross' father, Brad, he is ranked as the number one recruit in the state of Iowa for all positions in the Class of 2014. He's also considered to be one of the best offensive lineman prospects in the nation for the Class of 2014.
Powerhouses like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Nebraska along with Boise State, Iowa and Iowa State have all tried to recruit Ross. Ross has made visits to Notre Dame, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Alabama, Wisconsin and Oklahoma twice for two games.
Ross has always been a Hawkeye fan and this is what drew him to the University of Iowa. He's really comfortable with the coaching staff at Iowa and being able to play for the state of Iowa with their fan base played in his decision.
