Charger Season Ends with loss to Wahlert at State Tournament
It was a close game, 81-59, but Dubuque Wahlert pulled down the win, in the 3A state quarterfinals at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines March 11th. The game was tight in the first half and early in the third quarter before the Golden Eagles started to pull away. Chariotn battled till the end and made their fans very proud, watching them play in their first state tournament game in 42 years.
With the loss Chariton ended the season with a record of 21-4. With the win Dubuque Wahlert (21-4) advanced to play in the 3A state semifinal against #1 seed Harlan on March 13th at Wells Farge Arena. Harlan beat Humboldt, 64-44, in their first round game.
Hockenson went 9-10 from the line and finished with a team high 23 points and 17 rebounds. He also had two assists and one block. Felderman had 12 points, one rebound and four blocks. Bengtson had 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal. Laing had eight points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cain had three points. Storm had two points. Brett Braida had one point. Bradley Krutsinger had one rebound and one assist. Alec Reynolds had one rebound.
