The Chargers scored eight runs over the last three innings to beat Keokuk, 10-0, in six innings in the Class 3A District 7 semifinal at Indian Hills Community College's Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville on July 19. The Chargers got off to a slow start offensively and led just 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning but scored two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to seal the win.
With the win, Chariton (33-5) advanced to play Centerville (22-16) in the Class 3A District 7 final at Pat Daugherty Field at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22. Centerville advanced to the District final by beating Oskaloosa, 2-1, July 19. Chariton was 3-1 against Centerville in the regular season. The winner of the Chariton-Centerville game will advance to the substate final to play the winner of the Fairfield-Ft. Madison game July 24.
