The boys came back after their loss to Oskaloosa with an impressive 63-50 win over Clarke in their conference opener at Chariton. The Chargers had it all together and built a 14-point halftime lead. They built the lead to over 20 points in the second half.
The Chargers led 16-10 after one period. They outscored the Indians 14-6 in the second to take a 30-16 lead at halftime. Chariton kept up the tenacious defensive intensity in the third and built their lead to 48-24 heading into the fourth period. The Indians made a nice comeback in the fourth quarter to cut into the Charger lead.
Brendan Laing had eight points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Kellen Curnutte had six points, six rebounds and one steal. Alex Wright had six points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Tyler Folkerts had three points, a team-high eight rebounds and three steals. Cole Pierschbacher had three points, four rebounds, one steal and one assist. Austin Burlin had two points, three rebounds and one assist. Cody Carroll had one point. Mike Mosbach had two rebounds, one block and one steal.
With the win the Chargers moved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
