Varsity Boys Valiant 4th Quarter Comeback Falls Short vs E-B
The Chariton Varsity Boys lost to Eddyville-Blakesburg 61-56 on February 10th. It was another episode of "Heartbreak Hotel" for the Chargers, who have had five losses decided by five points or less. They've also had eight losses determined by nine points or less. Cody McCullough and Jed Marvin both had great fourth quarters to lead the Charger comeback. Marvin's lay-up and free throw after he was fouled gave Chariton a one-point lead at 49-48. Still leading by one, McCullough missed a two-shot foul, and the Rockets came down and hit a big three-pointer to take the lead for good. It was a gutsy effort in the fourth quarter, especially by Wucely and Jed Marvin, who really hadn't played well until then. McCullough had 12 points, four rebounds, four steals, one assist and one block. Jed Marvin had 12 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists. Cole Pierschbacher had four points, two rebounds and a block. Tyler Knust had two rebounds and Ki Marvin had one rebound and one assist.
