CHS Volleyball Team Awards
CHS Volleyball Team Receives IGHSAU Academic Achievement Award
The Chariton High School volleyball team earned distinction from the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union in receiving their Distinguished in Academic Achievement Award.
The volleyball team had a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.44. The team achieved this honor in the classroom while actively participating in interscholastic athletics. These students exemplify the excellence achieved by the young people of today and the future of tomorrow.

Nine Chargers Make All-District

T.J. Hockenson and Pavel Garbuzov Are Unanimous Selections
After nearly making the playoffs this season, the Chariton Charger football team is reaping the postseason accolades with nine players named to the Class 3A District 8 All-District team. Chariton had two selections named to All-District offense, three named to All-District defense and four named to Honorable Mention All-District. Both sophomore tight end, T.J. Hockenson and senior defensive end, Pavel Garbuzov were unanimous All-District selections.
Sophomore wide receiver, Daric Laing, was also named to 3A District 8 All-District offense. Senior inside linebacker, Tyler Nance, was named to All-District defense. Senior Christian Bengtson was named to All-District defense as a utility player.
The Chargers named to Honorable Mention All-District include senior Stephen McCurdy, senior Connor Grgurich, senior Ben Kinonen and junior Quinn Storm.
Chariton finished 4-5 this season and had a chance to make the playoffs in week eight. The 4-5 record was their best record since finishing 4-5 in 2007.
